Picture Walk

Take a picture walk through the images. Begin with the cover to infer and make predictions. See what stories the images tell and keep those ideas up somewhere for future reference.

Record all the questions that come up on the board or through a digital whiteboard (ie: Jamboard or a mural up in the classroom) to invite all questions to be shared as they arise and answered from the text once you read it through.

Integrated curriculum:

All of the activities are listed by subject but are encouraged to be approached through an integrated approach to the lesson/unit of inquiry and  can be done at any stage:  pre-reading, during or post-reading the book.

Use the different subject lenses to consider the possible connections to: Literacy, Social Studies, Science, Art, Music, or Math.
